Issue #2 – December – 2008 Gene & Shelba Pollic will be traveling to Haiti from Jan 23-Feb 14 taking teams on Short Term Mission trips. Danny Carr, Jim Suttle, Sandi Hunt, Brian Campbell, and "maybe" Eric Baker (not sure as of this writing). MMC Churches sponsored are Cherryville, Golden Valley and Hartland MMC. They will be helping Stan Hightower from Colorado install a new solar-powered electrical system for the Haiti Gospel Mission orphanage (Yvrose). This will help eliminate the need of purchasing $14.10 a gal. diesel fuel to run the water pump and other electrical systems. They will also be involved in various projects at the orphanage and the new airport church – painting, etc. Gene & Shelba will be there for the three weeks helping to coordinate these efforts as well as evangelizing with other team members and Emmanuel Felix and distributing the Radio 4VEH (OMSI) solar-powered radios. SAVE YOUR DIMES: We are proposing that each one of us would save our dimes – a dime a day from each MMC family alone would bring in approximately $20,000 plus in a years time. [IF] each family member would do this – we could raise more than enough money to feed, clothe and pay for the school bill of the Haiti Gospel Mission orphanage, which is approx. $10-15,000 annually depending on the amount of kids in school. It takes approx. $1600-2200 a month to just feed these kids (110) and staff (5). PRAY about going with us to Haiti in 2010: There are teams going in June/2009 – December/2009, and again in February of 2010. – Please join us! Think about it! – PRAY about it! - DO it and GO with us! MEANWHILE: March 2009 – the Blairsville House of Prayer in Blairsville, GA. is bringing Yvrose into the U.S.A. during March of 2009 for a mission conference with Gene & Shelba. They will be taking her to various churches while here – Garner, NC New Life Wesleyan Church – Cherryville MMC – Calvary MMC and a few others to be scheduled yet. MFMI National Cabinet Meetings: The Shelby MMC will be hosting the annual winter meeting of the MFMI (Men For Missions International) – Jan 8-9-10. There will be cabinet members from the U.S. and Canada. The Cherryville MMC will host them at a BBQ on that Friday eve the 9th. The Griggs Bluegrass Gospel Quartet will be entertaining everyone after dinner. Dinner is 6:PM and Entertainment is at 7:PM – please come and join us. Some will be speaking at MMC churches the morning of the 11th. Merry Christmas and Happy 'Holy Days' – (this was the original greeting) Holy Days is where we got our "Holidays" – but don't tell them or they will try and take that away from us also.
