Note from Dr Shelby Rogers & Bobby Page‏ - Feb 2, 2010

This is from Dr Shelby Rogers & Bobby Page

It is 95 degrees there (Les Cayes) which is very warm, but when they are use to much higher temperatures it is very cold for them, especially at night since it is winter. It would be the equivalent of those in Indiana to be sleeping outside in 50 degree weather.

Refugees from Port-au-Prince are flooding the outlaying towns. (1000s coming in)

If you have facebook check out the Team One Mission - Haiti Relief page.

When they boarded the plane in Haiti chickens were also in flight!

January 30th a medical team left Ft. Lauderdale, FL for Cap Haitian, Haiti. They flew from Cap Haitian to Les Cays, which is 100 miles southwest of Port-au-Prince on the southern coast. This area wasn't damaged much from the earthquake, so they have a place to stay instead of using tents. With so many wounded Haitians leaving Port-au-Prince, medical care is needed in outlaying areas. The team was split so that a larger geographical area could be affected. They are experiencing everything that the media is showing. This team has water, power, internet access, and a cell phone, but are without some modern equipment that we have in the US. The procedures the patients need range from change of bandages and fractures to amputations, spinal taps, and appendicitis. One of the doctors that went on the trip, Jeff Tabor, had a heart attack Monday and was flown back to the US. Tuesday (NOTE: from recent conversation with MFM - Dr Tabor was dehydrated - he was taken to Cap Haitian and is working with Dr Gaven -OMS doctor),
they (Bobby & Brenda) are hoping to see Yvrose in Jeremie. The team was able to take down some money and baby formula for her to use wherever it is needed. While the Haitian people are strong, they are afraid of Americans forgetting about them.
