Earthquake survivors begin arriving in Jeremieā€ - Jan 30, 2010

A note from Bette:

What a day!

We got up at 4 and down to the warf to film some interviews...then the boat coming in and people getting off...but I can't send this.

Two of us then worked as ambulance drivers alongside others to bring about 40 patients out of 1500 to the hospital...not as many as we thought.

Private vehicles and 5 ton trucks, buses and motorcycles volunteered to bring people home so that by 10:30am the warf was pretty empty.

The community of Jeremie came together - boy scouts and brigades, Cuban doctors, Haitian medical residents and nursing students, business people, Doctors of the World, CARE, CRS and us - HHF.

It will take some time to translate the video so those stories will come later.
