MFM – Men For Missions
We have recently returned from a six-week mission trip – one month of that (June) was spent in SW Haiti – Jeremie with the Haiti Gospel Mission orphanage – Yvrose and the kids: It was HOT to say the least – we had days recorded as 113 DF – 111 – 109 – 103 – it only cools down about 5 degrees at night and there is no A/C to find relief. Unusually hot – but we made it through – Praise God!
Much was done – prayer walks at Leon’ and Marfranc during market days – several thousand people attending each. We are finding that these areas are becoming friendlier as we continue to do this. Please pray with us about these two cities. Several church services of which our many pastors on the trip preached.
Two new industrial size washing machines were installed for the orphanage kids to better wash their clothing and be much more efficient – the kids were very happy to get them. The Solar-System was made over by installing transfer switches on the well pump so it would not have to be ran off of the generated power, saving that cost of fuel, and powering the basement with better lighting. A new tool shed was erected with shelving and screening put into doors to keep out insects – the Airport Church is now nearly completed with the possibility of the roof being placed on it in February of 2011 (along with a new roof at the St. Charles church). The Sea Container items arrived just the day before we left – all items were unloaded and placed onto shelving and organized – some barrels and expensive tools and supplies did not make it – we are working on a manifest sheet to submit for insurance coverage. A new gas range was bought as the old one failed the very first day we were there. A new fridge is needed – it will be a little larger than the current one which has failed to work. The cost is $900 – there is $600 pledged thus far – if you can help with that we can advise Yvrose to go ahead and purchase the fridge.
Concrete repair work was done in the basement – much cleaning and reorganizing – new siphon plumbing for the big cistern used mostly by the kids so water can be drawn off quicker and easier.
We praise God for supplying the funds and for those who went and worked so hard. There were also many other projects – art work – sewing – ALL of the kids teeth were cleaned and dental needs addressed … He allowed so much to be done. We must give Him the glory and thank loudly those who paid their way and helped.
Satan fights us at every turn of life: As we traveled to Raleigh to fly out to Haiti the first of June – Shelba and I had a great time of travel together – we met with a supporting church and a pastor friend of over 20 years before we went to Haiti and learned that their church was being assimilated into a larger church and was soon to be a “satellite church” of theirs and that our monthly support was being stopped immediately. We were in shock – then just two days after arriving in Haiti we received an e-mail from a supporter that had been with us for several years that they had to stop paying their support – then after arriving home in early July – a supporting church in Ohio (for the past five years) advised that their annual support is being cut back by 25% for the future because of people leaving the church and a downward trend in overall giving.
Satan hates what we are doing – he hates anyone who is for or works for Christ and does everything he can to fault God’s workers or stymie their work for Him. We are thankful that we are considered dangerous to him and yet we must ask to be kept in prayer to work our way thru his stupid efforts and we must also be kept in your hearts and minds for the support we need to continue. God will use his stupidity to bring glory for His Son, our Saviour!
(We are asking you if you can help us out by taking out just $10 support a month in us for the next few years (we don’t have too much longer that we can be able to do this work). – If you can do this – we’ll be able to continue on - if not; – we’ll just have to wait and see –). With it we are asking if you could just give $50 as a one time gift – each church – each family - we could continue another 6 months without operating in a deficit to OMS (a real no-no)!
Prior to our leaving Haiti we were blindsided by a spiritual attack that involved a long-time friend -- it was due to a complete misunderstanding about a person and a given situation – some harsh and angry words were sent our way – BUT – I knew this man well and I knew this was not the man (he’s been a friend & brother for years) that I knew. We “finally” got all the details straight and all was forgiven – but had we not been brothers in Christ as we are – it would have probably gone on the rest of our lives without being resolved – we give Him the praise for resolving this situation.
Please keep us in prayer! --- Thank you……….!!!
Our Schedule: ….
… We will be at the annual MMC business conference in Shelby, NC on August 7 speaking and will be speaking at two churches the next morning (Sunday) and evening. Then we return home for a couple of days – travel to Illinois for a few days – then off to Kansas – from there to Colorado for several stops – at church with Stan Hightower - a friend who has been to Haiti several times with us – visits with friends and family.
From there to Montana and Wyoming for church services – MFM council meetings – then off to Oregon to be with some friends and share at a church service – we will then begin our trek home and stop again in Montana for more meetings – come thru Illinois again and be at home for a few days – then off to Haiti for a couple of weeks.
We are also going to Haiti in late November / early December and in February/March 2011.
… Make your reservations spoon as they are already starting to fill up. From Feb. 26-Mar. 5 – we are hosting some flying medical personnel in Jeremie from all over the USA – we are excited about doing this. They own their own planes and will be operating out of Miami and Santiago. DR.
Thank you for all you do for Him
Never – NEVER – never give up!
